Some farming schemes offer support that can help cover the cost of virtual fencing. Whether you're improving pasture access, trialling new tools, or working on conservation ground, funding may be available to help you get started.

ADOPT Funding
ADOPT supports farmer-led on-farm trials of innovative technology. A Support Grant of £2,500 is available to develop an application. Full grants of £50,000-£100,000 cover up to 70% of eligible project costs for 6 to 24-month projects.
National Trust Sites
The National Trust supports conservation and grazing projects on its land. Farmers working on or near National Trust sites may have access to collars provided directly as part of these projects.
RSPB Sites
The RSPB funds conservation grazing projects to protect and restore habitats. Virtual fencing is part of efforts to manage livestock sensitively on RSPB land.
National Lottery Heritage Fund
Grants are available at multiple levels. Applications under £250,000 are reviewed monthly at local level. Grants between £250,000 and £5 million are decided quarterly. Larger grants over £5 million are reviewed by the Board of Trustees.
FIPL – Farming in Protected Landscapes
FIPL supports environmental projects in protected landscapes across England. Funding covers projects that improve nature, support farming, and increase access to protected areas.
United Utilities
United Utilities provides water services across the North West of England and in some cases supports projects using virtual fencing to manage livestock along waterways, protecting water quality and sensitive habitats.
Affinity Water
Affinity Water supplies parts of Hertfordshire, London, and South East England and works to maintain biodiversity on its sites. Virtual fencing projects that support water catchment management may be eligible for support
FFIS – Future Farming Infrastructure Scheme
FFIS offers farmers and crofters up to 100% funding for capital investments supporting environmental efficiency and climate outcomes. Virtual fencing is recognised as an eligible capital item under the scheme.
CAGS – Crofting Agricultural Grants Scheme
CAGS offers funding to crofters in the Highlands and Islands to help cover the cost of everyday farm improvements including grazing management. Virtual fencing is an eligible item under the scheme.
Ffermio Bro
Ffermio Bro provides £1.8 million for projects in National Parks and landscapes, supporting habitat restoration, grazing management, and climate resilience.
