Environmental Quality Incentives Program

EQIP offers funding and expert support to tackle resource challenges from improving soil, water, and air quality to creating wildlife habitats and boosting drought resilience.

Conservation Innovation Grants

Nationwide Availability

CIG funds new ideas and tools that help farmers improve natural resource conservation. These grants are available through state NRCS offices.

Agricultural Conservation Easement Program

ACEP helps protect working farms, ranches, and wetlands. It supports landowners, land trusts, and other partners with conservation easements that protect grazing land and natural areas for the long term.

Conservation Reserve Program

CRP offers rental payments and cost-share help for landowners who set aside sensitive land to improve soil, water, and wildlife. Contracts last 10–15 years. Extra support is available for grasslands.

Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program

CREP brings together public and private partners like states, tribes, and nonprofits to help address key environmental goals through conservation projects.

Conservation Stewardship Program

CSP provides five-year contracts and payments to farmers who want to build on existing conservation efforts. It rewards those who maintain practices and try new ones.

Regional Conservation Partnership Program

RCPP funds locally led conservation projects that solve natural resource issues on working lands. It's a partnership-first approach with shared goals and solutions.

Fund-a-Farmer Grants (F.A.C.T)

Each autumn, F.A.C.T grants are available to help farmers like you boost animal welfare, move away from confinement, and improve pastures.

Funding / LASSO Prize (American-Made)

The LASSO Prize supports cattle agrivoltaics projects that benefit farmers, landowners, and rural communities while helping move solar energy forward.

Connect Ag Project

Nationwide Availability

Climate-smart grants that were on hold are now moving forward and some include support for virtual fencing. One project from Trust in Food is putting $40 million into helping farms use tools like Nofence to work smarter and care for the land.

Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE)

SARE offers funding for research and education projects that support sustainable farming. Farmers, ranchers, and researchers can apply through regional offices with options that include pastured livestock and rotational grazing.

State & Regional funding

Beginning Farmer Equipment and Infrastructure Grant

Minnesota

The intent of the Beginning Farmer Equipment and Infrastructure Grant program is to support new farmers in Minnesota to access equipment and develop infrastructure that will be crucial to the future of their farm business.

California (SB 675)

California

California SB 675 backs prescribed grazing to help prevent wildfires and support forest health. The bill creates a local grant program to support landowners using grazing as a land management tool.

Grazing Infrastructure Cost-Share (Practical Farmers of Iowa)

Iowa

Beginning farmers in Iowa can apply for up to $2,500 in 1:1 cost-share funding to help cover the cost of portable fencing, watering equipment, and basic shelter for grazing animals.

North Dakota Outdoor Heritage Fund

North Dakota

North Dakota ranchers are eligible for two different funding programs that cost-share for virtual fencing. The Smart Livestock Advancing Terrestrial Ecosystem (SLATE) program and Innovative Working Lands Partnership both provide 75% cost-share and are administered through Ducks Unlimited. These are voluntary conservation programs providing innovative strategies to help sustain grass-based agriculture on public and private working lands for wildlife and people.

Soil Health Implementation Program (OK Conservation Commission)

The Soil Health Implementation Program (SHIP) is a new initiative designed to advance soil health and regenerative agricultural practices across the State of Oklahoma. At its core, SHIP aims to empower crop, livestock, and urban agricultural producers who are committed to elevating their soil health management strategies.
