Setting up the collars for the first time

Before using your collars, you need to prepare them properly. Follow these steps carefully to ensure your collars are ready for use.

Unbox the collars and guide

The box will contain your Collars, Batteries, Collar straps, and a one-page getting-started guide.

The guide offers useful tips and links to get started quickly.

Remove battery protection

The battery is protected with insulation tape covering the battery poles. Remove it before inserting the battery into the collar or charger.

Charge the battery

Batteries are shipped with up to 30% charge to comply with regulations. You can charge the battery using the Nofence charger. This can take up to 12-14 hours for Cattle collars, or 8-10 hours for Sheep and Goat collars. The light will turn constant green when fully charged.

Insert the battery

Once the battery is fully charged, insert it into the collar. You will hear the battery click when secure, and then a digital tune will play. This indicates the collar is powering on.

Wait for firmware update

Wait 30 minutes for the collar to update. The collar will automatically download and install the latest firmware updates. This can take up to 15 minutes to complete. The collar will be ready to use after the update is complete.

Log in to the app, your collars will be there

Once your collars are set up, you can log in to the app and start creating pastures.

Fit the collars

After creating your first pasture, you can fit the collars to the herd. To learn more about fitting collars select the Collar type below to learn more.

Fitting best practices

Collar shouldn't touch the chin

The collar should not pass the chin of the cow, so it does not scrape along the ground while grazing.

Room for growth

Make sure there is enough space for the cow to grow or gain weight during the season.

Important: Avoid incorrect fitting

If a collar is fitted incorrectly, you can cause harm to the animal and damage to the collar. Handle collar fitting with care for both the animal and your safety. This collar is too tight and could cause discomfort or injury.
